QR returns with the ninth of its Radio HaHa nights, which, as ever, showcases a bloody great line-up of comedy, while raising funds for the radio station of Queen’s University Belfast. What’s not to like?
We’re delighted to announce that our headline act this time around is cult comedy hero LEWIS SCHAFFER. Originally from New York City, he was a resident MC at the Boston Comedy Club and the Comedy Cellar – where anyone who’s anyone in American comedy cut their teeth. In his own words, “A short visit to London in 2000 went very wrong and when love and marriage took him from his beloved New York and gave him children, divorce and heartache in the UK.” Since then, he’s performed all over the UK, with his one-man show “Lewis Schaffer is Free Until Famous” being performed over 4000 times.
Praise for Lewis:
“Some people are just born comedians, and Lewis Schaffer is one of them…Schaffer has something special, right deep in his bones.” – The Skinny
“There’s no one quite like Lewis Schaffer on the comedy circuit. It was a pleasure to watch a master at work.” – Giggle Beats
“Schaffer is almost beyond criticism. You are never going to get the same show twice…What I do know is that the audience were roaring with laughter…Take a chance on Lewis. You will not regret it.” – The Scotsman
“A tour-de-force performance from a comic who’s been on the ropes but definitely come back bigger and bolder, connecting bang on the funnybone.” – Chortle
A real comedian’s comedian and a fixture of the UK circuit, we’re absolutely delighted to welcome Lewis to Radio HaHa. This is going to be something special.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!
As well as our fantastic headliner, we have a selection of some of the best local talent as support, in CHRISTIAN TALBOT, CONOR MCGINLEY AND RONAN LINSKEY. On the night, proceedings will be held together by our special guest MC, GEORGE FIREHORSE.
So there you have it; five comedians for five pounds, in what’s established itself as one of the best comedy rooms in the country, and you also get to support the city’s only student-run radio station. What more could you ask for?
The second Radio HaHa of the 2014/15 academic year promises to be one hell of a night. Don’t miss it!
