After three years Frank Turner makes a triumphant return to Belfast, with an energetic and exciting performance to a packed out Limelight.

Bursting onto the Limelight stage, Turner and The Sleeping Souls kicked things off with “The Next Storm” off his latest album – ‘Positive Songs for Negative People’. Over the next two hours he blasted his way through a collection of new songs, including his latest single ‘Mittens’ (featured on QR’s playlist) and old favorites, such as ‘The Way I Tend to Be’ and ‘Recovery’, as well as the fan requested “Mr. Richards”. He even threw in a cover of Motorhead’s ‘Ace of Spades’, in memory of music legends Lemmy and David Bowie.

Throughout the night he built up an epic rapport with the audience even urging his guitar tech Cahir O’Doherty, former front man of Derry band Fighting with Wire, to crowd-surf around the venue. Frank also had a signed drum skin up for grabs for whatever side of the crowd sang the loudest. Suffice to say Frank Turner can definitely put on a riveting live performance!

Before the gig we sat down with Frank to discuss Positive Songs for Negative People, working with Butch Walker and the inspiration behind his new music video.  You can listen to it below!
