Queen’s Radio Knows… Shane Todd! The Northern Irish comedian brings his “Sick, Bro!” show to Belfast’s Mandela Hall on October 28th for a night of laughs and fantastic entertainment. Queen’s Radio caught up with Shane to find out more.
It has been a busy 2015 for Shane Todd. In addition to shattering the collective funny bones of audiences throughout Northern Ireland, Shane has also enjoyed a successful run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August and looks to bring 2015 and his show “Sick, Bro!” to a spectacular close. “It’s the last time I’ll be doing this show and I’m sad to see it go,” Shane told Queen’s Radio, “…but I’m excited to do new material… I’ve already started to do new stuff… smaller gigs… 5 minutes all around the place”.
Whilst Shane’s tremendous work ethic on the Northern Irish comedy scene is admirable in itself, his significant online presence in creating numerous original, equally hilarious characters cements his fantastic mind for comedy. Perhaps his best known character, however, is that of former Ulster Rugby ace, prospective parliamentarian and hotshot interviewer Mike McGoldrick – but how did this one-third of ‘The 3 Amigos’ come into being? “I used to be a dishwasher… when I was, like, 16,” recalls Shane, “…so you would encounter all these really eccentric people and personalities…. then when I started getting into comedy and looking for characters, it was very easy to develop something like that”.
